Meet the Owners

Cottonwood Residential Care is locally owned and operated by Maria and Paul Nicoara. Maria and Paul emigrated to the United States from Romania in 1986 with their two children and have lived in Texas ever since. Through hard work and dedication, they have overcome the many difficulties inherent in moving to a foreign country. Paul has worked for many years as both a professional driver and for a time in his own business as a home builder. He is a very skilled handyman and regular jack-of-all-trades and has extensively remodeled their home, as can be seen in the Photos section of this website.

Likewise, Maria is a very skilled (and creative!) cook, who places a strong emphasis on healthy and nutritious meals, all of which are home made from fresh ingredients. She has worked extensively in the food industry in hotels and restaurants and also has experience as a caregiver in an assisted living facility in Arizona. Together, they have run Cottonwood Residential Care in Plano, Texas for over 5 years. Since they only take up to 3 residents at any one time, they develop close relationships with their residents making this a truly home like experience for the residents and their families.
